Digital Etiquette and Cyberbullying

This week, I learned how to create my own YouTube channel and more about digital etiquette. I created a classroom poster promoting digital etiquette that included guiding rules such as respectful communication, keeping information private, being mindful of tone, and telling an adult about cyberbullying. As children are now starting to use technology at an early age, we educators need to guide children on how to use it appropriately and safely. Technology can be a beneficial tool for children's learning experiences, but we need to help them learn the importance of being good digital citizens as well.
While creating my YouTube channel, I began thinking of all the new ways I could educate my future students. For example, I can upload educational videos to a playlist my students can access that helps reinforce concepts I am teaching, whether it is the alphabet, counting, or storytelling. Having a YouTube channel for my classroom can also encourage more parental involvement. Parents can watch my videos at home with their children to create a consistent learning experience between school and home. My YouTube channel opens up countless opportunities to promote various areas of development, including social-emotional, physical, self-regulation, cognition, and language. Ultimately, YouTube serves as a beneficial tool for both students and teachers to access educational resources that further enhance learning and engagement.
