The Flipped Classroom

This week's topic was the flipped classroom and the utilization of technology to create a more intentional learning environment in the classroom. A flipped classroom can be highly effective in an early childhood classroom because it shifts the focus from teacher-led to an interactive and engaging learning experience for the children. If I were to introduce a flipped classroom model in my own class, I would have a site or app that the children and their families can access with videos, interactive activities, and other digital tools that help introduce concepts at home. As a result, we can dive into more hands-on learning experiences that allow for problem-solving and support. Furthermore, by having activities done in class, children can collaborate with one another, receive individualized support from teachers, and enhance their social and communication skills. Overall, the flipped classroom model helps to tailor learning to individual developmental needs, which is crucial in early childhood education.
I also learned how to curate my own QR code this week. QR codes serve as a great technological tool that can have great effectiveness in the classroom. I would utilize QR codes in many ways in an early childhood classroom. For example, in a daycare setting, I could have a QR code on the parent information board that allows them to scan it and sign their child in through the app used by the daycare. Additionally, I proposed the idea that I would have a QR code next to each student's artwork or other work; when the QR code is scanned, there will be an audio recording of the children explaining their creation. This adds a personal touch while encouraging children to share their thought processes. Ultimately, QR codes are a great way to incorporate technology in the early childhood classroom!
